Some drivers wonder whether mobile tyre fitting is as safe and rigorous as a traditional garage. Here's the truth about industry standards and what reputable providers do.
A common concern among customers trying mobile tyre fitting for the first time is whether the quality of work is comparable to a traditional tyre garage. It's a fair question. Here's an honest answer.
The Equipment Matters
A properly equipped mobile tyre fitting van carries the same fundamental equipment as a fixed garage: a tyre changing machine, a computerised wheel balancer, and a calibrated torque wrench. The machines are portable, but they're professional-grade.
The torque wrench is particularly important. Wheel bolts need to be tightened to a specific torque — not too loose (risk of the wheel coming off) and not too tight (risk of stud damage and difficulty in future removal). We use calibrated torque wrenches for every fitting.
Industry Standards
The tyre industry in the UK is governed by several regulatory frameworks. Tyre disposal must comply with waste regulations. Tyre fitting safety follows guidelines from the National Tyre Distributors Association (NTDA) and the TyreSafe organisation.
Vantage Mobile Tyres technicians are trained to these standards, and all our work includes proper tyre mounting, bead seating, inflation to specification, and computerised balancing.
The Question of Wheel Alignment
One genuine limitation of mobile fitting is wheel alignment. Full four-wheel alignment requires fixed, calibrated ramps and laser measurement equipment. Mobile vans carry balancing equipment but not full alignment rigs. We're always transparent about this: if we suspect alignment issues, we'll tell you and recommend where to get it checked.

All our tyre fitting work is guaranteed. If you experience any issue related to our fitting, we'll come back and sort it. Your safety and peace of mind are our priority.
